We’re a community group who use our collective purchasing power to bulk-buy high-quality local produce with far less waste, and way more fun than buying from big retailers. Produce is generally purchased at wholesale prices with minimal markups. Members contribute time into the operations of the group in exchange for great prices and feel-good social benefits.

We operate our bulk-buyers group from the undercroft of a community-minded share-house in Highgate Hill / South Brisbane. We got our name from our original home in the inclusive and nurturing sharehouse and community hub called Turnstyle that was just up the road.

Delicious produce is available at weekly buying nights run as a cashless mini-market from 6-8pm on Wednesday evenings. A wide range of food is available including:

• flours
• pulses
• dairy
• bread
• meat
• honey
• oils
• vinegars

Fruit and vegetables are arranged for members to choose and pack their own box on the night with dry good staples available from bulk bins and pre-ordered chilled goods. Save food miles by purchasing local produce and save waste by BYO bags, jars and containers.

Our group is entirely run by its members who contribute their time and energy. The group needs members to contribute about 2 hours a month. This is via tasks on a Wednesday evening, such as setting up or packing down the space, weighing members’ food for our online purchasing system, or via administrative roles like managing our finances or stock.

All mem​​bers have an equal say in how we operate, grow and change into the future, so there’s plenty of room to contribute your ideas, like suggesting different local suppliers who we could consider sourcing from.
